French League clubs give support to Affan Kurniawan

French League club Olympique Marseille expressed its support for online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan, who was killed in the riots at a demonstration.

The French club, which currently features former Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood, posted a photo of Marseille midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a salute on its official Instagram account @olympiquedemarseille.

In his post, Marseille wrote "Gamma. Affan Kurniawan. Moh. Umar Amarudin," ending with a clasped hands emoji, often used to express prayer or apology.

Marseille's post garnered over 40,000 likes and was flooded with comments from Indonesian netizens expressing their respect and gratitude for the French club's respect for the grieving situation in Indonesia.

Affan Kurniawan died after being hit and run over by a Barracuda tactical vehicle (rantis) on Thursday (28/8) evening during a clash between demonstrators and police officers during a demonstration.

The video recording of the chronology of the Affan incident during the demonstration went viral on social media, and even attracted the attention of international media, including the Olympique de Marseille football club.
