Tijuana, August 16.- On the occasion of its 54th anniversary, the Binational Friendship Park at the Playas de Tijuana Border Wall called on Mexican and U.S. authorities to establish effective collaboration that allows for family reunions, just as families could gather years ago through this space.
According to Daniel Watman, program director of the Binational Friendship Park, the main obstacle they have faced is the militarization of the border wall along with U.S. policies, which do not contemplate binational cooperation or recognize family reunification needs.
"Fifty-four years ago, there were no walls, and this area was known as International Friendship Park. What we want is to return to that or something better because the community needs that connection," Watman said.
