President Claudia Sheinbaum today inaugurated the Free Center for Women in Calakmul, Campeche, and highlighted the policies her government is promoting to guarantee gender equality in the country.

Accompanied by the state's governor, Layda Sansores, the president emphasized at the center, located in the town of Xpujil, that when she assumed the presidency of the Republic, and expressed that she was not alone in her arrival, but rather all Mexican women, also meaning that the objective was to work to recognize and make visible women's rights.

"That's what we're working on: developing projects like the Women's Booklet, which establishes their rights, including the right to study, to choose whatever profession they choose, to be whatever they want."

Likewise, he added, the Booklet also establishes the right to reproductive health and the right to land, which for many years was only for men.

President Sheinbaum commented that some of the women in the village of Calakmul told her they were told the Sembrando Vida program was only for men, which is false. "Ejidataria farmers and all women have the right to own property, a home, to develop ourselves, and to be free.

She explained that millions of copies of the booklet have already been printed, and it is required that men read it as well. They, she said, need to act differently with their partners, with their mothers and their daughters. There must be a relationship of respect and recognition, and they must share each of the tasks normally assigned to women.
