Hundreds of supporters of the Palestinian cause gathered on Kurfürstendamm, near Breitscheid Square, to draw attention to Tel Aviv's starvation policy against the residents of the Gaza Strip.
Protesters chanted anti-Israel slogans and banged empty food containers, a reference to the hunger crisis resulting from the blockade of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
Shortly after the event began, police demanded that the protesters disperse and leave the area. However, the participants continued chanting, and a number sat on the ground in a peaceful demonstration. Police then violently intervened to disperse the protest, arresting a large number of demonstrators.
Meanwhile, another solidarity demonstration took place in Berlin's Wittenbergplatz, where participants also used empty food containers to highlight the hunger crisis in Gaza.
The demonstrators held up signs reading: "Stop the genocide in Gaza," "Send food to Gaza now," and "Stop hunger in Gaza and bring in bread."
The banners also bore slogans such as "Terrorist Israel," "Child-killer Israel," and "Freedom for Gaza." Police reportedly arrested at least four protesters during the event.
Earlier on Saturday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza said the death toll among aid recipients had reached "1,422 martyrs and more than 10,000 injuries" since May 27.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has been waging a war of extermination in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the operation.
The genocide in Gaza left more than 209,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that claimed the lives of many.
