History chasers in the NBA

The 80th NBA season, which will begin on October 21, 2025, will be a special one, as many records could be broken, especially through the performances of veteran superstars.

From Los Angeles to Houston, big names like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Nikola Jokic have the chance to leave a lasting mark in the NBA history books, completing the legacy they have built over more than a decade.

LeBron James

Starting with LeBron James, the 40-year-old NBA athlete who shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.

He has already secured the title of all-time leading scorer, but the 2025–26 season presents an opportunity for him to break new ground. He only needs 350 field goals. to surpass Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 15,837 points. LeBron, who scored 651 field goals last season, will almost certainly add another record to his collection.

Entering his 23rd season, James will also become the player with the most regular-season appearances in NBA history, surpassing Vince Carter. If he stays healthy, he needs just 50 more games to surpass Robert Parish as the player with the most regular-season appearances of all time.

In the opener against the Golden State Warriors, James needed just two three-pointers to pass Reggie Miller and move into sixth place on the NBA's all-time three-point scoring list.

These accomplishments show that LeBron James, at 40, is not only setting the new standard for veteran performance, but more than that, he is still dictating the direction of league history.
