Mexicali, June 25. Carlos Eduardo “N,” alias “El Gorila,” alleged hitman boss of “Los Chapitos ,” and three of his accomplices arrested on June 10 in San Felipe with long weapons and ammunition will be released from their criminal proceedings.

In a hearing held at the Mexicali Justice Center in criminal case 199/2024, Judge Marcelo Silvestre Pérez Hernández granted the precautionary measure of conditional release with weekly signature and without leaving the city.

On June 10, the Secretariat of Citizen Security announced that four people had been arrested in San Felipe during an operation.

The arrest took place on Mar Mediterráneo Street in the Nuevo San Felipe neighborhood, where state authorities were conducting a patrol and encountered a group of people outside a home carrying long weapons. Upon noticing the presence of security units, they attempted to run away.

Two pistol-type firearms with a magazine, each loaded with six 9MM caliber cartridges, were seized; one rifle-type firearm with a magazine loaded with six 7.62x39 cartridges; and one rifle-type firearm with a magazine loaded with 10 7.52x39 cartridges.

Authorities indicated that "El Gorila" is the chief hitman for the Sinaloa Cartel cell, "Los Chapitos," in the Gulf of Santa Clara.
