Tijuana, May 14. Mexico and the United States have agreed to take measures to limit the number of migrants attempting to cross their common border without documents to more than 4,000 a day , Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena announced Tuesday. As part of the agreement, Mexico is asking the United States to change its narrative about migrants: "They can't just see us as criminals," the official said.

"What agreements did Presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Joe Biden reach to keep the figure below 4,000?" Bárcena was asked in a brief meeting with journalists after presenting the Mexican Model of Human Mobility at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE).

"Well, precisely, they need to invest more resources in the root causes, in development programs. We're pushing for them to invest, for example, in Guatemala . It's very important that the United States invest resources in Guatemala," the chancellor said.

– But in the short term?
