Mexico City. The U.S. Embassy in Mexico highlighted that in the first four months of this year, the number of migrants "encountered" on the southwest border of the United States decreased by almost 90 percent compared to the same period in 2024, amid a decline in migration flows in other countries on the continent.
Identified with the hashtag #NiLoIntentes, the diplomatic mission stated on its social media that "according to figures from the International Organization for Migration, the number of migrants has decreased compared to 2024."
In the case of the aforementioned southwestern border of the United States, 96,206 migrants were encountered in the first four months of the year, representing an 87 percent drop compared to the same period in 2024.
In a 34-second video, the embassy added that from January to April 2025, there were 108,489 "migrants with irregular status found in Mexico," a 77 percent decrease.
