April 1. Gisela Gaytán, Morena's candidate for mayor of Celaya, Guanajuato, was murdered on Monday afternoon after leading a campaign event.
The politician was the victim of a shooting attack after a public event in the community of San Miguel Octopan.
Videos are circulating on social media showing the candidate walking through the town's streets when gunshots are heard and supporters begin to disperse.
Previously, Gaytán shared on social media that he had toured the Morelos Market , and in the description of his post, he mentioned: "With determination and commitment, we will achieve the change we so desire."
