The manager of the Indonesian men's and women's 3x3 national team, Alvin Indra, said that local professional 5-on-5 basketball players who do not get enough playing time in the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL) clubs have the opportunity to become 3x3 athletes to represent the country.
According to him, minimal playing opportunities at the club does not mean that the basketball player's abilities are poor, but could be because he is more suited to playing in a 3x3.
"It doesn't mean the players in question are not good, but perhaps they are in the wrong position. If they were in a 3x3, they could actually be top players," Alvin said in an interview.
He explained that becoming a professional 3x3 athlete is relatively quicker in achieving success, both on a national and international scale.
