Members of the Common Platform for Palestine/Mexico and other organizations painted a huge Palestinian flag on the protective walls surrounding the future National Agrarian Archives on Sunday, in rejection of US President Donald Trump's plan to "take over" Gaza and exile 1.8 million inhabitants of the enclave.
The piece, nearly three meters high and six meters long, features a cartoon of a Palestinian woman kicking the tycoon out of the Gaza Strip at its center. Throughout the piece, other illustrations alluding to the war launched by Israel on October 7, 2023, against Gaza were included, as well as written messages in support of the Palestinian community.
“It's outrageous that Trump, along with Israel, wants to lead to the total extermination of the Palestinian people. This must be known around the world; it must resonate. That's why we're carrying out these actions in Mexico to raise awareness among our population about this genocide being committed,” Martín, one of the promoters of this peaceful initiative, told La Jornada. He did not give his name for security reasons.
Work
This would be the ninth painting carried out by the platform since last November, he explained, without any interruptions by security or authorities. He specified that other locations have included Plaza Mítica, the Alameda Central kiosk, the Juárez Hemicycle, and the Angel of Independence.
