Mexicali, July 2.- The 14 radios seized from the Municipal Government will not be returned due to a security protocol, said the Director of Public Security, Pedro Ariel Mendívil García.
He mentioned that, like the Office of the Comptroller, radios were transferred to other areas, such as the then Municipal Transportation System, which ceased to operate as such.
"It's a security issue where only the corporation can access internal communications," he said.
The president of the Public Safety Committee, Ángel Záizar, supported the measure, arguing that only the police should have access to sensitive communications regarding security matters.
This decision was made a few weeks ago, and initially, trustee Héctor Ceseña expressed his disapproval, arguing that the Office of the Comptroller must have access to the frequency to review the work being done.
When questioned again, he said it's an issue he'll continue to review, although he said it's no longer an issue for him.
This radio issue is part of several actions taken within City Hall, where the Trustee and the Mayor have disagreed.
