Putri KW advances to the quarterfinals of the World Championships for the first time

Indonesian women's singles badminton player Putri Kusuma Wardhani advanced to the quarterfinals of the World Championships for the first time in her career.

In the round of 16 of the 2025 World Championships held at the Adidas Arena, Paris, Thursday, Putri KW beat Japanese singles player Tomoka Miyazaki in two straight games, 21-12 and 21-11.

This victory also marks an impressive record for the 23-year-old badminton player when meeting Tomoka, who has achieved a total of three wins and one loss in four meetings.

"I played earlier, defending her attacks, especially her crosses, with more active footwork. Tomoka's position in the first game was dominated by the wind, so she made a lot of unforced errors," said Putri KW, as quoted by PBSI.
