Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka believes that lactation rooms for nursing mothers and diaper changing rooms for babies are a higher priority on long-distance train journeys.
Gibran's statement was in response to a proposal from a member of the legislature who considered the need for special smoking carriages for long-distance train journeys.
"If there is fiscal space, in my personal opinion, it would be better to prioritize, for example, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, the elderly, and people with disabilities," said Vice President Gibran after reviewing the revitalization of Solo Balapan Station in Solo, Central Java.
Gibran believes that in formulating policies that concern the community, the priority scale must first be determined according to needs.
According to Gibran, if there is fiscal space that can be budgeted by PT KAI, it would be better to prioritize pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
"For example, there could be a lactation room in the train car. Perhaps the toilets and bathrooms could be expanded so mothers could change their babies' diapers more comfortably. I think that's a higher priority. Again, there's a scale of priorities in policy formulation," Gibran said.
