Casper Ruud praised Iga Swiatek, who claimed the Cincinnati Open title the day before, then they achieved two wins in the US Open mixed doubles match.
They eliminated home seeds Madison Keys and Frances Tiafoe 4-1, 4-2 before eliminating American Caty McNally and Italian Lorenzo Musetti by the same scoreline.
"Honestly, I think it's also good for recovery because you have another task and you're not slacking off, but you're focused on the next exciting thing," Swiatek said after the match, as broadcast by the ATP.
"I wouldn't say I don't have energy or anything like that. Besides, when I'm used to playing singles and mixed doubles, the intensity is lower. You don't have to run as much, so I enjoy it."
While Ruud is already in New York preparing for the US Open, his teammate is still struggling in the Cincinnati draw .The Norwegian admitted he was worried if Swiatek withdrew.
