The Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) reported three more heat stroke deaths in Mexicali on Tuesday, bringing the total to 38 so far this summer.
Among the victims is a man who died at the General Hospital and whose body was admitted to the Semefo (Security and Emergency Services) on July 30. He has been identified as Ignacio "N," 47.
Alfredo "N" General Hospital, 68, also died, and another individual between 65 and 70 years old died on Valentín Canaliza Street in the Vicente Guerrero neighborhood, where he was picked up.
They refuse to go to shelters
Mexicali Mayor Norma Alicia Bustamante Martínez called the situation in the city a terrible one, and announced that they will continue their efforts to convince homeless people to seek shelter.
