Tijuana, October 9. The strategy against crime will be strengthened in Tijuana because, although there are other important municipalities in Baja California, this is where the most homicides are concentrated, announced President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, while announcing that Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda participated in the security meeting this Wednesday.
During her press conference this Wednesday, the national leader announced that a four-pronged strategy will be implemented in Baja California based on addressing the causes of crime, strengthening the National Guard, and providing intelligence in investigations and coordination, similar to what was announced Tuesday in the case of Sonora.
Sheinbaum Pardo announced a visit to Baja California, saying that "in the case of Tijuana, we will strengthen, together with the state and municipal governments, the actions to address the causes. We will go there towards the end of the month."
Just Tuesday, during the daily presidential press conference, Secretary of Security Omar García Harfuch announced that Tijuana is one of the 10 most violent municipalities in the country, and that Baja California is therefore included in the security strategy, which also includes the states of Guanajuato—with the most murders in Mexico—and Chihuahua, Jalisco, Guerrero, and Sinaloa.
This Wednesday, President Claudia Sheinbaum emphasized that among the actions against crime, "there will be no war on drugs." She affirmed that "war means permission to kill," nor will there be a clash with crime "as in the case of (Felipe) Calderón."
