Jannik Sinner turned things around and defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime at the Cincinnati Open in Ohio on, securing his first victory over the Canadian to reach the semifinals.
The tournament's defending champion has lost both head-to-head meetings, winning just one set, against Auger-Aliassime.
That 2022 loss came before Sinner cracked the Top 10.
Now the world No. 1, Sinner showed just how far he has come with a convincing 6-0, 6-2 victory.
"I felt like my returns were really good today," said Sinner, who won 80 percent of points on Auger-Aliassime's second serve, as reported by the ATP.
"I think that was the key, it gave me the confidence to serve well. I was happy to be able to break him early."
