Sony is raising the price of its PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console in the United States starting August 21, 2025, according to a company announcement.
According to a TechCrunch report , Sony raised the price of the console by around US$50 or around Rp. 817 thousand.
The standard PS5 price has been increased to US$549.99 (approximately Rp8.9 million), the PS5 Digital Edition price has been increased to US$499.99 (approximately Rp8.1 million), and the PS5 Pro price has been increased to US$749.99 (approximately Rp12.2 million).
The company cited a "challenging economic environment" as the reason for the price increase, likely referring to the import tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump.
The United States government announced on July 31, 2025 that it would impose a 15 percent import tariff on Japanese products.
