Stolen truck found during Tijuana junkyard operation

Tijuana, July 3. A stolen truck was found inside the Yeye junkyard, located on Avenida del Peñón in the Granjas Familiares neighborhood of Matamoros, during an operation in which five other similar businesses were inspected.

Tijuana Regional Prosecutor Rubén Ramos Jiménez reported that the junkyard manager was arrested for being in possession of the Nissan Murano vehicle.

He explained that the operation is part of efforts to curb car theft.

"It is known that in certain establishments , vehicles reported stolen are sometimes purchased , since they do not verify the stolen vehicle, its origin, or whether it is legitimate or not," he indicated.

He added that in Tijuana, most vehicle thefts occur in shopping center parking lots that lack access control, with Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, and Nissan being the most sought-after models by criminals.

He explained that these types of cars are easy to open , and their parts are the most sought after for buying and selling.

If you are a victim of this crime, you should report it to 911 and then go to the Public Prosecutor's Office to file a formal complaint.
