Tijuana, April 9. The Cerro de las Abejas Recreational and Sports Park will open the first week of September, with a completion date of 78 percent, announced Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez.
During a meeting with members of the private sector involved in the project, the Secretary of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development (Sdtua), Juan Enrique Bautista Corona, detailed the progress of the project, and the mayor, for her part, urged young people—who represent 70 percent of visitors—to participate and begin adopting the green areas.
"We continue with our promise. We must be grateful for the opportunity to be president and to work with the business sector to achieve great things. I am very grateful for this project. It is the hallmark of this municipality because it was achieved through unity," Caballero said, according to a press release.
He explained that the space, which covers nearly 48 hectares, is land donated by the El Florido distributor and already has at least 12 completed projects, including a baseball field, an amphitheater, a photovoltaic system, and three basketball courts.
