Rejecting the truckers' version that alleged infiltrators sent by the State Government provoked the violence, Gutiérrez Topete asserted that since "the threat of a demonstration was detected," they tried to maintain dialogue and "we organized ourselves so that it wouldn't get out of control or cause more chaos than they had caused on other occasions with roadblocks."
