Al-Masirah TV, the group's mouthpiece, reported that its armed forces targeted Ben Gurion Airport with a "Palestine 2" missile, confirming the operation's success and causing panic among civilians and the airport's closure.
The group explained that the attack came in response to what it described as "the crimes of genocide and starvation committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque," announcing the continuation of its operations against Israel until the siege on Gaza is lifted and the aggression halted.
For its part, the Israeli military announced in a statement issued early Tuesday that its air defenses had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, triggering air raid sirens in several areas of the country.
Last Sunday, the Houthis announced they had attacked three Israeli targets in Tel Aviv, Ashkelon, and the port of Haifa using three drones. This is part of the group's ongoing attacks in support of Gaza, which include launching missiles and drones, as well as targeting ships linked to or bound for Israel.
On July 27, the Houthi group decided to escalate its naval operations against Israel by "targeting ships belonging to any company that deals with Israeli ports, regardless of the company's nationality," in support of the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a genocidal war since October 7, 2023.
With American support, Israel is waging a war of genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the operation.
The genocide left more than 210,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and a famine claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
