The group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said that the group's missile force "carried out a unique operation targeting Lod (Ben Gurion) Airport in the occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv) region with a Palestine 2 hypersonic ballistic missile, and the operation successfully achieved its goal."
He added, "The operation caused more than 4 million Zionist invaders to rush to shelters, and airport operations came to a standstill," he said.
Saree continued, saying that the operation "was a victory for the oppressed Palestinian people" and a response to "the crimes of genocide committed by the Zionist enemy against our brothers in the Gaza Strip."
He added, "We are monitoring the enemy's movements and its plan to halt the Yemeni support front, and we affirm that we are highly vigilant and fully prepared to confront all hostile movements until they are thwarted, just as other plans, conspiracies, and movements have failed during the past period."
For its part, the Israeli occupation army claimed in a statement that "the air force intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, triggering alarms in several areas of Israel."
For its part, the privately owned Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that "air raid sirens sounded in several areas in central and southern Israel as a result of the launch of the Yemeni missile," noting that the missile did not cause any injuries or material damage.
Last Wednesday, the Houthi group announced that it had carried out three military operations using five drones against Israeli targets in Tel Aviv (central), Ashkelon, and the Negev (south).
The Houthi group is launching continuous attacks on Israel in support of the Gaza Strip, using missiles and drones, and targeting ships linked to or heading towards it.
On Sunday, the Houthis decided to escalate their naval operations against Israel by "targeting all ships belonging to any company that deals with Israeli ports, regardless of the company's nationality," in support of the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a genocidal war since October 7, 2023.
With American support, Israel is waging a genocidal war in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
The genocide left more than 208,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and a famine claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
