The Indonesian dragon boat team won the gold medal in the open 2,000m event at the 2025 World Games at Xinglong Lake Hubin Arena, Chengdu, China, on Saturday.

The Red and White team finished first with a time of 9 minutes, 8.12 seconds, ahead of the hosts, who finished second with 9 minutes, 19.22 seconds. Meanwhile, Spain won the bronze medal with a time of 9 minutes, 23.75 seconds.

"It's in line with our hopes. The dragon boat team's first gold medal at the World Games, and also the Indonesian contingent's first. There are five finals tomorrow," Budiman Setiawan, Deputy Chairman III of the Indonesian Rowing Sports Association (PB PODSI), told ANTARA via instant message on Saturday.

The Indonesian dragon boat team is strengthened by Andriyani Riska, Mugi Harjito, Sutrisno, Irwan, Dapit, Kuswandi Roby, Dayumin, Reski Wahyuni, Maryati, Yuda Firmansyah, Nadia Hafiza, and Meni Nur.

The 2,000 meter open number is a race number that is held without going through a qualifying round.

"Thank God, they performed well, with focus, because the 2,000 meters requires consistency and endurance," said dragon boat team coach Suryadi, who accompanied the athletes in Chengdu.
