Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that the launch of Udayana University's Road to AI Center is a strategic step to make Bali a pioneer in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the fields of culture and tourism.
"The government needs to collaborate extensively with educational institutions to prepare the country for artificial intelligence. This requires collaboration with many parties, especially in digital literacy," Meutya said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
According to Meutya, Indonesia, with its 280 million people, needs digital literacy and digital talent development to be ready to utilize AI. She believes Udayana University's choice to develop AI for culture and tourism is the right one.
"Besides digital literacy, one thing universities can do is develop specific use cases . For example, Udayana, because it's located in Bali, was chosen for its cultural and tourism focus," Meutya said.
