Mexico City, April 13.
 - The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) issued a new recommendation to the head of the National Migration Institute (INM), Francisco Garduño, regarding the overcrowding and "undignified" housing conditions for people in the context of mobility in the immigration detention centers of Piedras Negras and Saltillo, Coahuila, which were accredited in 2022, but to date there is no evidence that any administrative procedure has been carried out to address the facts.

He explained that, as a result of the verification activities carried out by the staff on April 11 of that year, it was confirmed that the temporary facility in Piedras Negras had approximately 250 people, in poor housing conditions and overcrowded, given that this facility has a capacity to accommodate 88.

In addition, it was confirmed that many people were sleeping on mats on the floor, that there were no showers or air conditioning, and that there were children living with adults.

This situation, he emphasized, worsened on May 17, 2022, when the presence of 306 people staying there was reported, which caused a fire in the men's area.
