The number of young people with chronic degenerative diseases is increasing.

Tijuana, November 16.- In connection with the commemoration of World Diabetes Day on November 14, the health services jurisdiction of this region urged the community to make lifestyle changes to avoid chronic degenerative diseases.

This year, 5,600 people were diagnosed with diabetes in the Baja California region, so the jurisdiction issued an invitation to exercise daily , limit their consumption of sugary and alcoholic beverages, and increase their intake of fruits and vegetables , commented the coordinator of the adult and senior health program, Dr. Julián de Loera Arias .

Among the main causes of care in health centers are chronic degenerative diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, vision impairment, pain in the extremities, all of them caused by diabetes .

For this reason, activities such as the installation of a diabetes and hypertension screening center in the jurisdiction were carried out , in addition to lighting several city buildings, such as the Cultural Center, in purple, seeking to raise awareness of the serious effects of this condition.
