There have been 23 deaths and 415 heat-related illnesses in Mexicali.

 

Mexicali, August 17.- The Ministry of Health reported that, as a result of its latest update of data related to extreme temperatures during the summer season,  23 deaths have been recorded so far .

The institution specified that of the total number of people, 20 died from heat stroke and three from heat exhaustion , all of them in the jurisdiction of Mexicali, which includes Valle and San Felipe .

The most affected groups were men aged 18 to 61 , and according to the information, 415 people have been treated so far for illnesses directly related to heat. 

Of these, it is clear that 44 were due to heat stroke , 371 due to heat exhaustion and so far there are no registered cases of sunburn .

In light of the extreme temperature increases recorded, the state Mexicali, August 17.- The Ministry of Health reported that, as a result of its latest update of data related to extreme temperatures during the summer season,  23 deaths have been recorded so far .

Therefore, the following preventive measures are issued:

• Drink bottled, boiled, or disinfected water frequently to stay hydrated.

• Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., when temperatures are at their highest.

• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing; when going outside, wear a cap or hat, sunglasses, an umbrella, and sunscreen.Health Secretariat urged the public to take increased precautions and prevent heat-related health effects .
