Ensenada, June 19.- The new public lighting concession tender will be for 15 years and includes the operation, expansion, rehabilitation, replacement, and electrical infrastructure, as well as maintenance of the lighting fixtures.
Rubén Best Velasco, secretary general of the City Council, reported that the bidding process for the Public Lighting System concession is in its initial stages. Last week, the bidding conditions agreed upon and unanimously approved by the council on June 5 were published.
This bidding process is currently underway, and a clarification meeting was held this Monday for companies interested in this concession.
CELSOL Company
The City Clerk reported that the lighting lease contract with CELSOL has been terminated early. However, he mentioned that the corresponding authority indicated that the agreed monthly payments would continue to be made until the contract is awarded based on the upcoming tender.
Therefore, once the new bidding process is completed and the concession contract is signed, CELSOL SAPI DE CV must be notified to remove all the lighting installed under the lease agreement, since the agreement has been terminated early.
Francisco Javier González Revilla, director of Municipal Public Services, announced that approximately 30% of the leased streetlights are no longer working and have begun to deteriorate, meaning that most of them will stop working within one to three years.
"The lighting lease contract signed by the Administration of the XXI Ensenada City Council has been terminated early. The contracted scope is limited to the lease of lighting for 10 years only, and of course, does not include additional services," he emphasized.
