Tijuana. With the goal of supporting the economy of Tijuana families and ensuring taxpayers comply with their tax obligations, the Tijuana City Council approved an agreement promoted by Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez that will waive municipal fines and surcharges for the 2023 fiscal year and prior fiscal years , provided payment is made before December 29.
At last night's extraordinary City Council meeting, the mayor presented an agreement to the council members that would waive municipal fines and surcharges from November 1st to December 29th . The agreement was unanimously approved by both parties.
This means that starting in November, taxpayers who pay their property tax during this period will receive a 100% waiver of fines and surcharges incurred due to non-payment, for fiscal year 2023 and prior years.
In the case of the Property Tax on Real Estate Acquisition , Tijuana residents will be eligible for a 50% waiver of fines and surcharges generated during 2023 and prior years, as long as the debt is paid during this period.
The foregoing "provided that they are settled in full and comply with the other provisions established in this agreement no later than December 29, 2023."
During the City Council session, it was emphasized that, in the case of fines for non-compliance with municipal regulations, violations for parking vehicles on ramps and access points exclusively for people with disabilities cannot be waived.
