Tijuana, December 17.- Approximately 480 athletes from 28 states of the Mexican Republic will compete in the National Sports Games for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The disciplines in which they will compete are athletics, swimming, basketball, soccer, dance, and artistic gymnastics.
The Games will be held in Tijuana from March 21 to 25, 2022, and will be organized by the Tijuana Municipal Sports Institute (IMDET).
The games will be endorsed by the Mexican Federation of Special Athletes, AC, and will focus on three different sports classifications : Intellectual Disability (with an IQ of 75 or less, C1), Down Syndrome (C2) and Autism (C3).
Present at the press conference were Frida Nicole Galindo Alcaraz and Ricardo Manuel Ramírez, both athletes competing in the Athletics category.
The championship will be held at the Tijuana Sports Unit , in the case of Athletics, Swimming, 3x3 Basketball and Indoor Soccer.
In the case of Sports Dance and Artistic Gymnastics, they will be held at the Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno Municipal Auditorium .
Sports categories
In Athletics, there will be categories for 10 to 13 years , 14 to 17 years, and 18 years and over, for both branches in the C1, C2, and C3 sports classifications.
Basketball will be played in 3x3 format in categories 10 to 13 years old, 14 to 17 years old, and 18 years old and over. Depending on the number of registered teams, these may be mixed in classification and category.
Futsal will have an over-14 age group, and teams may be mixed in classification and branch.
For Dance Sports, there will be a Children's category for ages 8 to 11, a Youth category for ages 11 to 16, and a Senior category for ages 16 and over. The sports classifications for this discipline will be C1 and C3 for both categories, and participation may be in pairs or groups.
