Indonesian U-16 women's national team coach Timo Scheunemann wants his team to show quality play in the 2025 ASEAN Women's U-16 Championship which starts against Timor Leste at Manahan Stadium, Solo.
Timo wants these young talents for the future of Indonesian women's football to demonstrate a game that is more than just winning or losing, for the sake of a healthy women's football industry.
"We can put on a quality performance tomorrow. Because it's more than winning or losing. This is about women's soccer fighting to reach the next level," Timo said in a pre-match press conference on Tuesday.
"We know that women's soccer is fighting for a professional league platform. But we also have to understand that there can't be a pro league if the game isn't quality. It can't be, because this is a business. No one will come if the game isn't quality," he added.
He said it would be impossible for spectators to follow women's soccer competitions if there was no quality there.
"For example, professional volleyball players are all beautiful. But if they're just beautiful and play poorly, spectators won't come. So there has to be an attraction. That's even better, but the performances must be high-quality," he stressed.
