Tottenham officially signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig for 60 million euros

Tottenham Hotspur has officially signed young RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons for 60 million euros and a five-year contract with the option of a two-year extension with the North London club.

Simons becomes Spurs' third major attacking signing after securing the permanent deals of Mohammed Kudus and Mathys Tel, and bringing in defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha on loan.

Despite joining Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in January for a fee of 50 million euros, Simons was subsequently put on the transfer list after the Bundesliga club finished seventh in the 2024/2025 season, their worst finish since promotion to the top flight in 2016.

Simons's unclear playing position also led to doubts from several major European clubs. At Leipzig, he was often deployed as a hybrid attacking midfielder, capable of playing as a winger or second striker.
