Tijuana, July 23. With two months left until the end of the municipal administration, Raymundo Vega has resigned as treasurer, Mayor Montserrat Caballero Ramírez announced in a message posted on her Facebook page.
"Honor where honor is due, thank you, Treasurer, for organizing the debt payment with your good offices. As we agreed, it was time to attend to the family, and we wish him the best of luck," the mayor wrote in a message accompanied by a photo of the now former official. Tax collector José Ángel Cabrera also resigned, but the mayor did not mention him in the post.
Caballero Ramírez announced the payment of the public debt—2.29 billion pesos—on January 10 of this year, when he highlighted the contributions of the now former treasurer and announced the possibility of his resignation.
The Chief Clerk, Marcelo de Jesús Macháin Servín, responded to the mayor's post and thanked Raymundo Vega "for believing in this project and supporting us throughout the campaign. The positive results of the Chief Clerk's Office would not have been possible without the strong coordination with the Treasury."
