West Java Province and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) won a slew of awards at the Smart City Awards held by the Ministry of Communication and Digital in Yogyakarta.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that the award event was held to encourage local governments to accelerate digital transformation in the provision of public services.
"We hope this award will accelerate digitalization and strengthen central-regional synergy," he said after attending the 2025 National Smart City Forum Gala Dinner in Yogyakarta.
Meutya said that local governments play a crucial role in accelerating the digitalization of public service delivery.
"Regional governments know exactly what the community needs. Some might adopt digitalization in healthcare first. Others might choose to focus on fisheries, food, education, and so on. The central government can't make that decision alone," he explained.
