Protesters storm Microsoft offices, protesting contract with Israel

A group of demonstrators belonging to the "No Azure for Apartheid" group stormed Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, United States, and broke into Microsoft President Brad Smith's office in Building 34 to protest the company's contract with Israel.

According to a TechCrunch broadcast on Tuesday (August 26), the group live-streamed their sit-in on Twitch, waving banners and chanting "Brad Smith, you can't hide, you're supporting genocide!"

They also posted a mock-up of a court summons accusing Smith of crimes against humanity.

The Verge reported that the protest involved current and former Microsoft employees who had been fired for similar activism in the past.

The action is the latest escalation after months of protests against Microsoft's cloud computing contract with Israel, which continues its genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

A recent Guardian investigation revealed that Israel uses Microsoft services to store data on millions of daily phone calls from Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
