Mexicali, May 9.- A total of 355 graduates of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) received the Academic Merit Award today in a ceremony held at the University Theater on the Mexicali campus, for having obtained the highest grades in their class and program of study.
The award was received by 215 women and 140 men who graduated in 2024 from the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by this institution of higher education on its Ensenada, Mexicali, and Tijuana campuses. It is worth noting that this recognition includes the awarding of the Academic Merit scholarship, which includes full exemption from registration or re-registration fees, tuition, and specific fees for graduate studies and/or foreign language accreditation at UABC.
In his message to the honorees, UABC Rector Dr. Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre emphasized that one of the requirements for obtaining this recognition is not having taken the same class twice or more than once, nor having taken extraordinary or regular exams, which is a difficult challenge. "That is excellence. It is the result of continuous work and of not giving up in the face of the challenges our environment presents," he said.
He also asked them to always remember that in their professional practice, they must conduct themselves with ethics, human values, and social responsibility, as this will reflect their quality as individuals and serve as an inspiration to future generations. "Show that you are worthy of yourselves. Only you know the difficulties, sacrifices, and efforts it took to get here, to fulfill that dream of a university degree," said Dr. Palafox Maestre.
