This came during their meeting in the British capital, London, where the Palestinian president arrived on Sunday for a three-day visit, according to the Palestinian News Agency, WAFA.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, in addition to bilateral relations between Palestine and the United Kingdom.
Abbas stressed that "the current Palestinian priorities are an immediate and permanent ceasefire and ensuring the unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to stop genocide, famine, destruction, and displacement."
He also explained that the priority is also "the release of the hostages (Israeli prisoners in Gaza) and the prisoners (Palestinians), the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, and the commencement of the implementation of the early recovery and reconstruction plan (for Gaza)."
He also stressed "the necessity of halting all Israeli violations of international law, halting settlement activity, settler violence, and the annexation policy (of the West Bank), ensuring the release of withheld Palestinian tax revenues (about $3 billion), and halting attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites."
The Palestinian president reiterated that "the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine, which will assume its full responsibilities there with Arab and international support, and the Administrative Committee will begin exercising its duties immediately after the war ends."
He also stressed that "Hamas has no role in government, and that it must surrender its weapons to the legitimate Palestinian Authority."
Abbas condemned "the killing and detention of civilians, including what Hamas did on October 7, 2023, as well as the subsequent destructive Israeli war on Gaza."
Preparations are underway for parliamentary and presidential elections.
