Tijuana, September 2. The mayor of Tijuana, Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, signed a collaboration agreement with the Tijuana Institute of Technology (ITT), through which students will be able to carry out community service, professional internships, or academic projects in government departments. The institution also includes counseling, training, and workshops for City Hall staff and their immediate family members, he reported in a press release.
According to a press release, the ongoing professional development of city hall staff is being strengthened, and at the same time, it aims to "consolidate the professional development of Tijuana's youth and, at the same time, promote the ongoing training of municipal workers."
At the event, which took place at the municipal offices, the mayor highlighted ITT's history as a historic landmark in the city, producing professionals with discipline and social commitment.
"We want to ensure that students have the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge. Students must be cared for, guided, and mentored, and this is achieved naturally when the government and educational institutions work hand in hand," he said, according to the statement.
The institution has 54 years of history, offering 19 undergraduate programs and eight graduate programs. This partnership represents an opportunity for the academic community to contribute to the city's development through community service, residencies, and community-impact projects, stated José Guillermo Cárdenas López, director of the ITT.
The ceremony was attended by staff from the Tijuana City Council's Chief Clerk and Human Resources Department, as well as Martha Raquel Robles Jiménez, ITT's Deputy Director of Planning and Outreach; Gabriela Elizabeth Martínez Mendívil, Academic Deputy Director; Beatriz Chávez Ceja, Administrative Deputy Director; and Artemio Lara Chávez, Head of Technology Management and Outreach.
