Mexico City, July 21.- Six people died and 53 were injured when a passenger bus and a double-bed trailer collided near Yurécuaro on the La Piedad-Vista Hermosa
Highway, police sources reported.
The accident occurred early Friday morning when one of the vehicles allegedly attempted to overtake. The bus caught fire, but the injured people were rescued beforehand. The drivers of both vehicles died in the accident.
Paramedics, firefighters, and police from the towns of La Piedad and Yurécuaro rushed to the scene to assist the passengers, mostly agricultural workers, who were taken to hospitals in La Piedad, Yurécuaro, and La Barca, Jalisco.
The unit left Baja California and was headed to Oaxaca. The double-trailer was transporting groceries.
Two dead in accident in State of Mexico
Two people died after two semi-trailers collided this Friday on the Arco Norte Highway at kilometer 156 on the border between Hidalgo and the State of Mexico. One of the units struck and collided with the other cargo vehicle, causing one of the tractor-trailers to catch fire.
Police reports indicated that the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. this Friday.
A private vehicle was also hit by the heavy units.
In another incident, a trailer overturned at kilometer 40 of the Mexico-Querétaro federal highway, in the lane leading to Mexico City.
