Mexicali, December 16. Members of the State Congress's Finance Committee approved by majority vote a 30-year debt agreement for the state executive branch for 3.5 billion pesos, which with interest will reach 9 billion pesos.
Of the resources, 3 billion pesos will be allocated to water infrastructure projects and 500 million pesos to various projects supporting women.
On Thursday night, in a session of the Finance Committee chaired by Morena representative Julia Andrea González Quiroz, the financing was approved with five votes in favor, one against by Morena representative Sergio Moctezuma Martínez López, and one abstention by PAN representative Alejandrina Corral Quintero.
With a group of experts, Finance Secretary Marco Moreno Mexia justified the 30-year debt by citing the State Executive's projections for a revenue increase of 4 to 8 percent from 2024 to 2027, and 3 percent in subsequent years.
The projects
According to the information, the $3 billion will be used for various water commission projects, including the repair of the Río Colorado-Tijuana aqueduct, under the responsibility of the State Water Commission (CEA).
Also included is the replacement of the Morelos aqueduct in Ensenada and the replacement and maintenance of sewage systems in that municipality.
A comprehensive project to replace and rehabilitate drinking water systems and repair sanitary sewers is planned for Tijuana and Rosarito Beach.
