Mexicali, November 6. Until 2023, the Pension and Retirement Fund of the Institute of Social Security and Services for Government and Municipal Workers of the State of Baja California (ISSSTECALI) had a deficit of 5.614 billion pesos, according to its own Institutional Development Plan.
The document published on August 2 in the Official State Gazette provides a breakdown of the fund's financial management, which is the central theme of the reform proposed by the Baja California government .
The document mentions 137,875 beneficiaries and an increase of 11,000 from 2021 to 2023.
65 percent belong to the bureaucracy and 35 percent to the teaching profession.
Government entities owe ISSSTECALI 254 million 661 thousand 977 pesos.
It's worth noting that Finance Secretary Marco Moreno Mexía has said that the agencies' debts are no match for the deficit in the retirement and pension fund.
