Mexicali, May 31.- Representative María Yolanda Gaona Medina presented an initiative to ensure that those running for elected office, such as governor, local representative, and city council member, do not have to have a criminal record or be subject to penalties for serious administrative offenses.
Likewise, the initiative seeks to add two articles to the Political Constitution of the Free and Sovereign State of Baja California to prohibit individuals sanctioned for corruption, whether administrative or criminal, from running for office.
This measure will require public servants to perform their duties in compliance with the legal framework and refrain from engaging in conduct that causes harm to the State or Municipal Treasury, or to the assets of public entities.
