Fast Lane inaugurated at the San Ysidro port of entry for cross-border students

Tijuana, February 29.- The new rapid crossing into the United States for cross-border students was inaugurated this Thursday morning in the medical lane toward the San Ysidro port of entry. This process is expected to significantly reduce wait times to 20 to 30 minutes, as wait times currently range from three to four hours per day.

"This was created to provide a benefit to those families who wake up at 2 a.m. every day, people who suffer all day waiting in lines to pick up their children and then go to work, causing stress, traffic, and health problems, and whose lives are tied to the binational issue," said Tijuana Mayor Montserrat Caballero.

However, this lane will not be open to all students like the conventional ports of entry at the port of entry. Those wishing to cross through the "Fast Lane" must pay a registration fee of 4,800 pesos, followed by 5,400 pesos for a total of 20 rapid crossings, which amounts to a cost of 270 pesos per day.
