Google has officially announced that its generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) application, Gemini , can now receive and process user requests in the form of audio files or voice recordings.
According to a post by Google Labs and Gemini Vice President Josh Woodward on X audio file compatibility for Gemini applications was the number one request from users of this AI service.
Gemini users who do not subscribe or use the free service can upload audio files up to 10 minutes long and five free prompts every day for Gemini to process.
Meanwhile, users with the AI Pro and AI Ultra plans can upload up to three hours of audio. All Gemini prompts can accommodate up to 10 files in various formats, including ZIP files .
Not only is the file type update managed, Google also provides two other updates for the services served by Gemini in the form of AI Search which can handle five new languages and NotebookLM which can now create reports in the form of blog posts , study guides, quizzes, and more.
