Gloria says Rehan is recovering quickly after ACL surgery

Mixed doubles badminton player Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja said Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto's condition is improving rapidly after undergoing surgery on his left knee due to an injury he suffered while competing in the BWF World Tour Super 300 Macau Open tournament.

Based on reports from doctors and physiotherapists, according to Gloria, Rehan is improving very quickly so it is hoped that he can return to competing on the field more quickly.

"The update on Rehan's condition is very good and fast. He's in a condition where he's been strengthening continuously and has been going to the gym ," said Gloria on the sidelines of the PB Djarum General Audition in Kudus, Central Java, Monday.

"So, let's just pray for the best, hopefully sooner rather than later. Sooner in the sense of a quicker comeback. But so far, he's doing really well."

Rehan suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and a meniscus tear. Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery was performed at Pondok Indah Hospital in Jakarta on August 12.

The injury occurred during Rehan/Gloria's quarterfinal match at the Macau Open on Friday (August 1). They fell after failing to land a jumping smash against Indonesian pair Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah.

In a condition of being 15-21, 1-7 behind, Rehan/Gloria decided to withdraw from the match.
