Google brings Gemini AI assistant to Google TV

Google is introducing its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, Gemini, to Google TV devices, allowing users to interact through conversations directly from their television screens.

With this launch, Gemini will be available on more than 300 million active Google TV-based devices and other devices running the Android TV operating system, as reported by Tech Crunch on Tuesday.

Google explains that Gemini can help users choose shows they enjoy together, provide summaries of previous seasons, and even find movies or shows even if they don't remember the title. Users can also request reviews of a show before deciding to watch it.

Because Gemini is fully integrated, its features extend beyond entertainment. Parents and children, for example, can use Gemini to help with homework or generate ideas for school projects. Families can use it to plan vacations, while individuals can leverage its AI features to learn new skills.

Google emphasizes that Gemini doesn't eliminate the legacy functionality of Google Assistant. Non-AI voice commands can still be used as before.

Gemini for Google TV is rolling out initially on the TCL QM9K series. Throughout the year, the feature will expand to other devices, including the Google TV Streamer, Walmart onn 4K Pro, Hisense U7, U8, and the 2025 UX, as well as the 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K series.

Google ensures that it will add more features in the future.
