The privately owned newspaper Haaretz quoted the ministry as saying that "nearly 20,000 soldiers have been injured since the outbreak of the war," adding that about 1,000 soldiers submit new requests every month to have their injuries recognized.
She noted that more than half of the wounded suffer from psychological trauma, and that the financial cost of treating them amounts to 8.3 billion shekels (about $2.5 billion), half of which is allocated solely to treating trauma, amid a clear shortage in the number of medical personnel, with the ratio of one therapist to every 750 patients.
The ministry said that 81,000 soldiers were injured in Israel's various wars (since October 2023), meaning that 25% of the total number of injured (20,000) were injured during the current war in Gaza.
Last June, Israel launched an attack on Iran. For nearly two years, it has been committing genocide in Gaza and attacks in the occupied West Bank. It has also launched airstrikes on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and most recently, launched an airstrike against the Hamas leadership in Qatar.

She added that new centers for psychological support and treatment have been established, but warned that current laws are insufficient to address the crisis. She called for the passage of new legislation to expedite the response to the needs of the wounded, stating that a special committee is working on drafting new legislation to expedite the response to their needs.
