Mexicali, August 17.- The recent acts of violence reflect the levels of impunity that prevail in the state, said the president of the State Human Rights Commission, Miguel Ángel Mora Marrufo.
He mentioned that Baja California has been experiencing a situation of violence for months and years, and public policy has been lacking to achieve results.
"The events that occurred are serious, but they are part of the consequences of the impunity that prevails in the state," he said.
The vehicle burnings that occurred last weekend are unprecedented in Baja California, he said, where an entire community was attacked.
"Citizens were in a state of anxiety and uncertainty, so the authorities need to work," he said.
Mora Marrufo believes the authorities' greatest challenge is to prevent these types of events from recurring and to reduce crime rates.
"It was an extraordinary situation that affected citizens, but it was part of what we citizens have been suffering," he commented.
